Night of the Horde – Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 4, 2026
Night of the Horde ("the game") is a zombie survival game for iOS, Android and the web with single-player levels and an optional online hangout ("the Hall"), published by Vanessa Shehadah ("we", "us"). This policy explains what happens to your information when you play.
The short version
We do not collect, store, share or sell any personal data. The game has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. If you visit the optional online Hall, your nickname, character look and position are shared live with the other players there (see "The Hall" below). The Android and iPhone apps have no in-app purchases. The web version offers optional one-time purchases (extra campaign tiers, an animal pack and outfit packs) that are paid through Stripe; we never see or store your card details.
Information stored on your device
To remember your progress, the game saves a small amount of game data only on your own device (in the app's local storage, or your browser's local storage on the web):
- which levels you have unlocked and cleared,
- your best score for each level, and
- any custom levels you build in the level editor ("My Levels"), and
- how you customized your character (animal, colours and outfits), and
- on the web: which packs you bought and your purchase code(s), so the unlocks work in this browser.
This data never leaves your device and is never sent to us or anyone else. You can erase your progress at any time by long-pressing the small text at the bottom of the title screen, delete custom levels in "My Levels", or remove everything by uninstalling the app or clearing your browser's site data.
Sharing custom levels
The level editor can turn one of your levels into a text "share code". The code contains only the level layout, its settings and the level name you typed. Nothing is uploaded: the code is shown on your screen, and it only goes somewhere if you copy it or send it with your device's share sheet (for example to a friend in a messaging app). Importing a code a friend gave you also happens entirely on your device. Please don't put personal information in level names.
The Hall (optional online hangout)
The Hall is a free space where players who are online at the same time can walk around together. It is only used if you open it from the title screen. While you are in the Hall, the game sends the following to the other players in the same Hall, through the realtime service Supabase:
- your Hall nickname, which is built from preset spooky words (for example "Spooky Bat 42"); you can't type a name,
- how your character looks (animal, colours and outfit),
- your position and walking direction in the Hall, and
- the emotes and preset quick-chat lines you choose (there is no free-text chat), plus a random session id.
This information is only passed along live and is not saved by us: we don't keep a database of players, messages or positions, and nothing is linked to your real name or account (there are no accounts). When you leave the Hall, the other players stop seeing you. Like any internet service, Supabase processes technical connection data (such as your IP address) to run the connection, under the Supabase privacy policy. Your nickname choice is stored only on your device. If you don't want to share anything, simply don't open the Hall.
Information we collect
None, apart from the live Hall data described above, which we don't store. The game does not ask for or collect your name, email address, contacts, location, photos, device identifiers, advertising identifiers, or usage/crash analytics, and it contains no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs.
Payments (web version only)
If you choose to buy something in the web shop, you are sent to a checkout page hosted by Stripe. Stripe collects your payment details and the email address for your receipt and processes them under the Stripe Privacy Policy. Card numbers never reach the game or our server, and we don't store them. After paying, the game asks our server whether that checkout was paid (using its purchase code) and receives only the list of items it unlocks. Stripe keeps a record of the transaction (amount, items, date, receipt email) that we can see in our Stripe account for accounting, refunds and support; we don't use it for marketing and don't share it with anyone else. Unlocks are saved only in your browser; to restore them elsewhere, paste your purchase code into "Restore purchases" in the shop.
Permissions
The mobile app does not request access to your camera, microphone, location, contacts or photos. It uses your device's vibration motor for optional haptic feedback.
Web version and hosting
The web version is hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel may process standard technical request data (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver the page and protect against abuse, under Vercel's privacy policy. We do not use that data and do not add any analytics or cookies of our own (Stripe's checkout page may use its own cookies for fraud prevention). App store providers (Apple and Google) may also collect information under their own privacy policies when you download the app.
Children
The game does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The Hall is designed to be safe for kids: nicknames come only from preset word lists, chat is limited to preset phrases and emotes, and nothing typed by other players is ever shown. Because nothing is stored, there is nothing to share or delete.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
